If you are running Microsoft Windows and have a corrupted Master Boot Records or MBR, you can use Windows' utility to fix the problem from the Windows installer disk.
This method is only helpful in a single-boot environment. It does nothing more than clear your Master Boot Records and creates a single entry to boot into your currently running Windows operating system. You'll need to find a dedicated MBR recovery software if you require anything more.

Steps to restore Master Boot Records (MBR) using Windows:
- Boot from Windows installer disk.
- Press [ENTER] to boot into the installer disk.
- Select language and other options if necessary and click Next.
- Click on Repair your computer.
- Click on the Troubleshoot link.
- Click on Command Prompt.
- Type bootrec command and press [ENTER] to execute.
bootrec /FixMbr
- Reboot the system.
