AWS command line interface (CLI) tools are based on Python and is made available in pip by AWS.

Ubuntu also has a standalone package for awscli which could be installed without the dependency to pip.

AWS CLI tools can be installed on Ubuntu using apt from the terminal.

Steps to install AWS CLI tools on Ubuntu:

  1. Launch your preferred terminal application.
  2. Update apt's package list.
    $ sudo apt update
  3. Install awscli package.
    $ sudo apt install --assume-yes awscli
    [sudo] password for user:

    The following NEW packages will be installed:
      awscli docutils-common libjbig0 libjpeg-turbo8 libjpeg8 liblcms2-2 libpaper-utils libpaper1 libtiff5 libwebp6 libwebpdemux2 libwebpmux3 python3-botocore python3-dateutil python3-docutils
