You'll have to enable display scaling to get more of your screen's real estate of your in macOS. You can change the screen resolution or scaling option in macOS from System Preferences.
Steps to change screen resolution in macOS:
Open
System Preferences from the Apple menu at the top left of the screen.

Select
Displays.

The default resolution is supposedly set here.

Click on the
Scaled radio button and choose your preferred scaled resolution.
