Gmail integrates directly with Google Calendar, allowing users to manage their schedule from within their inbox. This integration simplifies the process of accessing and organizing calendar events without the need for switching between applications. Gmail's interface now includes a dedicated sidebar for Google Calendar and other Google Workspace tools, offering a streamlined way to keep track of appointments, meetings, and reminders while checking emails.
The sidebar integration is always visible in Gmail's main interface, offering quick access to various Google services, including Google Calendar. This feature enables real-time event management, letting users view and edit their schedule without opening a separate tab or window. As a result, users can efficiently coordinate tasks, add new events, and receive timely notifications directly within their Gmail environment.
By consolidating email and calendar functions into one interface, Gmail enhances productivity for both personal and professional use. The integration of Google Calendar into Gmail is designed to minimize disruption to workflow, enabling users to manage their time more effectively. This built-in feature eliminates the need for additional configuration, providing a straightforward way to stay on top of calendar events directly from the Gmail interface.
If the sidebar is hidden, click the small arrow on the lower right to expand it. You can also collapse the sidebar later if you need more workspace.
The calendar icon will appear only if your account is linked to Google Calendar. Make sure you're signed in to the correct account if you don't see the calendar icon.
You can add events by clicking on a date in the mini-calendar. To view full details or edit an event, click on it and choose Edit in Google Calendar for advanced options.
Look for an Add to Calendar link at the top of emails that contain event information. Clicking this link will automatically add the event to your Google Calendar.
To enable video conferencing, select Add Google Meet video conferencing when creating or editing an event. This will generate a meeting link automatically.
